The white chocolate mocha is the sweeter, creamier sibling of the classic mocha. White chocolate's vanilla and butter notes make the drink taste like a liquid dessert, so balancing the sweetness is key — a little less sugar and a good espresso shot keep it from becoming cloying.

Ingredients

  • 2 shots of espresso
  • 1.5 tbsp white chocolate sauce (or melted white chocolate chips)
  • 8 oz whole milk
  • Optional: whipped cream and white chocolate shavings

Step-by-step

  1. Add the white chocolate sauce to a 12 oz cup.
  2. Pull two shots of espresso over the sauce and stir until smooth.
  3. Steam the milk to glossy microfoam.
  4. Pour the milk into the cup, blending with the chocolate-espresso base.
  5. Top with whipped cream and a sprinkle of white chocolate shavings if desired.

Tips for the best cup

  • Use a white chocolate sauce made with real cocoa butter, not just sugar and flavoring.
  • Pull the espresso a touch stronger (a double ristretto) to cut the sweetness.
  • A pinch of salt in the chocolate base brings out the vanilla notes.

Key takeaways

  • A white chocolate mocha swaps dark chocolate for white.
  • Use real white chocolate (with cocoa butter) for genuine flavor.
  • Balance the sweetness with a strong espresso base.
