Syrupy, spiced, and made for oat milk, the iced brown sugar latte became a modern classic almost overnight. It tastes like a cozy autumn moment — except served over ice, which makes it dangerously drinkable in summer too.

Why brown sugar + oat milk

Brown sugar brings molasses depth and a syrupy mouthfeel that white sugar can't. Oat milk's natural sweetness and full body complement those toasty notes, and a pinch of cinnamon ties it all together.

Ingredients (1 drink)

  • 36–40g espresso (double shot)
  • 12g brown sugar (1 tbsp)
  • A small pinch of cinnamon (optional)
  • 120g ice
  • 150ml oat milk

How to make it

  1. Pull a double shot of espresso.
  2. Stir the brown sugar (and cinnamon) into the hot espresso until fully dissolved.
  3. Fill a tall glass with ice and pour the sweetened espresso over it.
  4. Add oat milk and stir well.

Pro tips

  • Dissolve the sugar in warm espresso — brown sugar won't blend well in cold milk.
  • A natural-process bean keeps its fruit and body even with sugar and milk.
  • Want it extra? Add a dash of cinnamon on top after pouring the milk.

Key takeaways

  • Brown sugar adds molasses depth that white sugar can't.
  • Oat milk's sweetness pairs naturally with brown sugar and cinnamon.
  • Dissolve the sugar in warm espresso before icing.
